About Plastic Dog Bowls

There is a reason why you won't find any plastic dog bowls EarthDoggy. Plastic dog bowls are dangerous and can severely harm your dog's health. Unlike ceramic, stoneware or steel dog bowls, plastic dog bows harbor bacteria in the cracks and crevices that are dangerous to your dog's health. Plastics emit dangerous Phthalates, and, according to the Environmental Working Group. "plastics contain chemicals, called “plasticizers,”, a group of industrial chemicals used to make plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) more flexible or resilient and also as solvents. Phthalates are nearly ubiquitous in modern society, found in, among other things, toys, food packaging, hoses, raincoats, shower curtains, vinyl flooring, wall coverings, lubricants, adhesives, detergents, nail polish, hair spray and shampoo." And these chemicals can leach from plastic into your dog's food, potentially exposing them to dangerous chemicals with harmful side affects. Earth Doggy recommends steel or ceramic dog bowls. Stoneware type dog bowls are also acceptable. However, make sure none of these types of dog bowls contain lead. All dog bowls sold on Earth Doggy are lead free.
